Why Is Drinking Water Essential?
There are so many benefits to drinking water every day. Scientists suggest that you should on average consume 8 glasses of water every day, but why? What’s so good about water? Drinking water regularly, not only keeps you hydrated and feeling well on the inside but can also help you look great on the outside. Water can help keep your skin smooth and wrinkle free.
The more water you drink, the more your skin retains its elasticity keeping those wrinkles at bay. As well as keeping your skin smooth, it can also help with your scalp. If you suffer from a dry and itchy scalp drinking water and keeping hydrated can solve that. Natural and safe acids found in water can improve the overall look and feel of it leaving you with lovely luscious and strong locks.
Want perfect nails; well look no further than water! Hair and nails are made of the same protein, keratin. So the acids found in water can help you grow lovely and strong healthy nails. This may be the biggest surprise (or not) but, water is the biggest aid in weight loss. You know when you’re feeling hungry? That might actually be you feeling thirsty. Drinking water, helps you feel fuller for longer and suppress your appetite so you’re not finding yourself snacking during the day.
Drinking a glass before a meal will also see you able to feel full after smaller portions. Dehydration can be quite telling when it comes to the skin, from bags under your eyes, to acne breakouts. Being dehydrated can also cause your sunburn to be worse than it is, a hydrated body will fight against sunburn symptoms and heal you quicker.
The problem with water is that not many people can drink it. It’s one of those drinks that are boring with no taste so you’re more drawn to calorific sugary drinks that taste nice. Well, worry not there’s so many recipes out there that make water more drinkable. This is what to do: -
1. Thinly slice the fruit with a knife. When you put sliced fruit in water it quickly adopts the flavour of the fruit. The thinner, the stronger the flavour BUT remember not to cut it too thin.
2. Put the fruit into your jug/bottle and add cold water. Yes, it’s as simple as that.
These are just a few combinations. The great thing about fruit infused water is that they’re also detoxing and can help with things such as bloated tummies.
1. Watermelon & rosemary
2. Citrus & ginger
3. Raspberry & lime
4. Cucumber & mint
5. Lemon & cucumber
6. Pineapple & mint
7. Strawberry & orange

10. Blackberry & basil
If you have the time, you can let it sit in the fridge for half an hour and the flavours will develop better, but this is just optional. It works as well without. If you keep adding water to it throughout the day, you won’t even notice how much you’ve been drinking.
